The Intensive Medical English Program Designed for Medical Students

The Medical English intensive program designed for medical students and professionals who want to develop their medical English and gain the ability to describe and explain medical symptoms and procedures in English.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Designed for medical professionals, this program will provide students with the medical English terminology, listening and speaking skills required to communicate effectively with patients and other medical professionals in order to provide medical care. In each certificate, students will learn new terminology that they will put into practice by exploring medical case studies and describing patient conditions. Role-plays can be adapted to meet students’ individual learning objectives and needs, depending on their professional backgrounds.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Each certificate is four-weeks long. Students will earn a Certificate in Medical English for each session they complete, and those students who complete all three certificates (12 weeks) will receive the Medical English Diploma. It is not necessary to complete these certificates sequentially making it flexible for students to enter into the program at the start of any new session.

MEDICAL ENGLISH CERTIFICATE IN PHARMACY, EXAMINATION RESULTS, & SYSTEMS OF THE BODY Language topics include:

 Female reproductive system
 Male reproductive system
 Urinary system
 Musculoskeletal
 Giving examination results to patients
 Pharmacy and pharmacist
 The blood system

English Language Vocabulary Class

There are several dictionary definitions for classes and lessons

Classes:

A group of students taught together according to a standing or a level or a subject.

A group of students meeting regularly to study a subject under the guidance of a teacher

A number of pupils in a school or a college, pursuing the same studies, ranked together, or graduated in the same year.

A group of students who meet at a regularly scheduled time or period to study the same subject.

Lessons:

A section into which a course of study is divided; (ie) a single, continuous session of formal instruction in a subject; "The class was divided into 50 lessons".

The instruction given during one class or instruction period.

An exercise or assignment that a student is to prepare or learn within a given time.

Something that needs to be learned or the event through which it is learned.

A lesson is a course of instruction or anything instructive.

Something from which a person learns or should learn (ie) an instructive example.

A useful piece of practical wisdom acquired by experience or study.

ESL Week-Ends in Niagara Falls

ESL in Canada is in the planning and organizing stage for week-end ESL classes, activities, meals and accommodations for Niagara Falls.

This is an excellent opportunity for a group of 5 to 15 friends to travel and practice their English conversation skills.

The basic 2015 June to October schedule and program is projected to be:

Friday afternoon/evening

- bus or train travel to Niagara Falls
- check-in and orientation
- welcome meeting with introductions
- evening walk of the old Niagara Falls downtown

Saturday

- Breakfast
- conversation sessions
- BBQ lunch
- walking tour of Niagara River and Falls
- visit Clifton Hill attractions
- options include Niagara Falls boat tours, Premium brands outlet shopping, dinner, and night club dancing.

Sunday

Toronto Study Tours

The Toronto Study tours will operate July 3rd to August 30th.

We require eight students to operate a class

ESL in Canada has made arrangements for special ESL English classes to operate at some of the attractions and events to supplement the in-class English school lessons.

This Toronto Study tours program is open to schools, international groups, companies, youth organizations and tour leaders who wish to travel to Canada with their students.

Participants can choose programs from 1 to 8 weeks. The listed planned events can be switched or altered to accommodate bad weather or to attend extra special events.

Instruction, activity and tour days can vary from 12 to 14 hours.

Dorm rooms are available, singles, doubles, and quads

Meals can be supplied at the student dormitory

  • Example Daily Schedule:
  • Morning Exercises 7:30 AM
  • Breakfast 8 AM
  • Morning Program 9 AM-12 Noon
  • English Skills (grammar, writing, vocabulary)
  • Lunch
  • Afternoon Program 1 PM to 6 PM
  • English Conversation Skills 1 - 3 PM
  • Afternoon activities, tours or sports 3 - 6 PM
  • Supper
  • Evening Programs 7 - 9 PM

ESL Cafe is on Summer Holiday

Please note: ESL Cafe is on summer holiday - next class is September 9th, 2013.

Every Monday and Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 PM there are free "ESL Cafe" English as a Second Language conversation sessions. (except holidays)

The free English Cafe conversation classes are offered at the St. Paul's Anglican Church located at 227 Bloor Street East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. St. Paul's is located about 400 meters East of the Yonge and Bloor Street intersection on the south side of Bloor Street.

The ESL English Cafe conversations are facilitated by volunteers. The volunteers have patience, enthusiasm, good-will towards all and some even have ESL teacher certification.

The ESL English Cafe conversation tables are divided into beginner, intermediate and advanced language skill levels.

Conversation topics include current events, vacations, where to get stuff cheap, how to study, some politics, funny things about Canada, job training, career suggestions, where to go to school, how to get a job.

The FREE ESL English Cafe conversation sessions have operated at St Paul's for almost seven years now and have helped over 3,000 adults, newcomers to Canada and students from Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, China, Taiwan, Philippines, Cameroon, Iran, Iraq, Turkey, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Italy, France, Spain, Ivory Coast and many other countries. You can meet new friends from around the world.
